rman copy live to test different servers
Hi There, i've seen a couple of similar threads but not with my exact requirements (which i find odd as i thought would be very common)
Anyway, we have a live database backed up by RMAN every day.
I want to perform a weekly copy of the live database to a test database on a different server (unix to unix) with a different SID (eg LIVE SID = 'LIVE', TEST SID = 'TEST')
I want this to run automatically with a script.
Really i just want to know if this is possible as everything i have read i have not seen anything about copying to a database with a different SID.
The Test database isn't registered with the RMAN catalog so i presume i would have to do that before anything else.
Cheers

Excellent, not yet as i didn't want to start and then find out i couldn't do it.
I will look further and formulate a plan, see if it sounds reasonable.
Cheers
