Linux or Unix command
hi DBA gurus, how we can see the no. of databases up and running from the operating system? what is the command for tat to see frm unix or linux?

ps -ef | grep smon
... then just count how many smon you get.

ps -leaf| grep smon
will list the instances are up.
This doesn't mean that databases are open. For that you need to create some scripts that will login to the database and check.

What about "ps -ef | grep dbw" ???

Good idea.. but if db_writer_processes parameter is set to more than one.. it will show multiple.
