    error while importing ?

    i am importing remotely to the database.
    The size of the dump is 9GB.After a long time.. the import is terminated with the below error.....please suggest.

    IMP-00058: ORACLE error 12571 encountered
    ORA-12571: TNSacket writer failure
    IMP-00058: ORACLE error 3114 encountered
    ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
    IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully

    What are errors ORA-12571 and ORA-03114 suggesting to you?

    Lets do the math...

    + Remote import
    + 9 Gig dump file
    + Long time running
    + ORA-12571
    + ORA-03114
    = My educated guess is you lost connectivity.

    Try again.
    If it fails again FTP dump file to local host and try Import locally.

    Now i am moving the dump to the local server.
    Because it failed for two times.
