    Oracle Installation error

I'm a new dba and am setting up Oracle 10 on a Sun Solaris x86 box that is clustered with another server. I have RAC and ASM installed and am at the installation part where the database is being installed and have run into the following problem one of the configuration assistants:

    Database Configuration Assistant: Info

Error when connecting to ASM instance on local node: IO exception: the Network Adapter could not establish the connection

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Output generated from configuration assistant "Oracle Database Configuration Assistant":
Command = /opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/bin/dbca -progress_only -createDatabase -templateName General_Purpose.dbc -gdbName sbssrac.gsol.net -sid sbssrac -sysPassword 05609c8f29cdd33abef6809f48f3da8007181cd228eceacdd4 -systemPassword 053585b0288c0d60f750cf98ca87acc4aed91f82e08078095d -sysmanPassword 0549a6aa282c593f3c33f1a9a77d678390f3db02035ead0c03 -dbsnmpPassword 0549a6aa282c593f3c33f1a9a77d678390f3db02035ead0c03 -emConfiguration NOEMAIL -hostUserName oracle -hostUserPassword 057e8c37292d4250c7d7f2f51f912cc535 -storageType ASM -diskGroupName DATA -datafileJarLocation /opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/assistants/dbca/templates -responseFile NO_VALUE -nodeinfo db1a,db1b -characterset WE8ISO8859P1 -obfuscatedPasswords true -sampleSchema true -oratabLocation /var/opt/oracle/oratab -recoveryAreaDestination +DATA
-basConfiguration assistant "Oracle Database Configuration Assistant" failed
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The "/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Supplied ASM SYSDBA password is invalid

Has anyone encountered this situation before and if so do you know how to resolve it? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Generally, this means you have a networking issue somewhere.
