Agent is Unreachable (REASON = A remote host refused an attempted connect operation.)

Dear Friends,

In Oracle Enterprieses manager I got the following message.

Agent is Unreachable (REASON = A remote host refused an attempted connect operation.). Host is unreachable (REASON = Timed out pinging the host for EMD

Please help me out, how to resolve this issue.

look at the error returned, read what it says - it tells you exactly what the problem is - the host is unreachable

Dear davey,

We have 2 instance RAC setup & we are getting this message only on instance1 but listener.ora and tnsping is working fine.

We need to add local_listener='location' in spfile ??? or any other issue.

you are getting error as "Agent is Unreachable "
is your agent running.

can you show us o/p of "emctl status agent" from the owner with which you installed agent.

In EM console what status its showing for your host is it Green Up arrow or Red Down Arrow. Can you logon to that host.

Instance2 showing Green up arrow but in instance1 showing Red Down Arrow.

So whats exact issue
is your instance1 running on ariepdb2
if not then you are checking on wrong host
if yes then whats the status of
ariepdb2 :- host and ariepdb2:3938 :- agent on EM console.
are the showing up or down

in instance1 from OEM --> status report i got following error:

Failed to connect to database instance: ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred (DBD ERROR...

and instance2 is working fine.

Ok let me ask in different terminology.

is agent running on your instance1 host. What is that host.
Suppose instance1 is running on XYZ host.

Then does that XYZ host and Agent XYZort are showing up on EM.

if yes can you do "emctl upload" from that host.

Also check if you can do

sqlplus dbsnmp/xxxx@ or tnsping instance1 from instance1 host do you get same ORA-12170 error.

Is your DB and agent are installed with same user.
