    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

    i installed orace10g and for creating database ..i tried to logon to the database
    then i am getting the below error...

    SQL> conn / as sysdba
    ERROR:
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

    this is my os user

    [oracle@oralinux ~]$ id
    uid=500(oracle) gid=500(oracle) groups=500(oracle)
