    OCP from 8 to 11g?

    So I called Oracle yesterday just to inquire about upgrading my OCP from 8 to 11g.

    I was told the path is to go to 9i (1z0-035) --> 11g (1z0-055)?

    Why would anyone get certified in 9i in 2011?
    Is anyone out there using 9i?
    Is oracle still supporting 9i?

    Weird, and disspointing.
    I remember when this place was cool.

    Hi Mr. Hanky welcome to the forum!!!

    We still use 9.2.0.8 on one of our databases. That database is slated to get retired after we migrate to EBS 12 in June of 2012. We were still running 8.17 up until last summer.

    I agree though 9i and 11g are different enough that knowledge of 9i is not particularly helpful for 11g.

    By the way your using "disspointing" is really disappointing to me.

    There is no direct upgrade to 11g from 8. There is, however, an upgrade from 9i to 11g, and there is a path from 8 to 9i. Education.oracle.com only shows one exit from 8, and that is to 9i.
