media recovery - way out
i cannot perform online backup because media recovery is not enable, can anyone help me out pls.

that doesnt make any sense, you dont enable media recovery, you perform it
so pos what you are doing and what error you are getting

DB might not be in Archive log Mode ....
Send us the output of:
SQL>archive log list

Yes, I agree, question seems to be confusing, so just tried to check some basics ... maybe an alert.log might help ...
Also,
SQL> select * from v$recover_file output would provide some insight.
