    Some questions about adding a new database to the existing RAC environment

    DBAs,

    We have a 10.2,3 RAC environment. Right now, I need to create a new RAC database under the same ORACLE_HOME. The RAC database is created and running.

    How can I create the listener/tnsnames for the new database? Use the NETCA?

    1) I must create a new listener for this new db or
    I can add it to the current listener?
    The current listener is like

    SID_LIST_LISTENER_ =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
    (ORACLE_HOME = /apps/oh/db10203)
    (PROGRAM = extproc)
    )
    )

    LISTENER_ =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = fmws1)(PORT = 1521)(IP = FIRST))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = )(PORT = 1521)(IP = FIRST))
    )
    )

    2. how can I add this new database. the 2 instances to the existing cluster?
    So I run the crs_stat t , it will show there?
    Use srvctl or something?

    Thanks for your help in advance.

    i used netca to crreate another listener and now the listener and tnsnmes.ora working.
    From the crs_stat, i can see the new listeners on both nodes are running.

    But i used the srvctl add database and srvctl add instance to add the db and instances to crs. it didn't work. crs_stat -t shows the status is offline.
    But actually this database is running. How can i fix this?

    I would assign each instance its own listener.
    Just edit your tnsnames.ora and listerner.ora files and create the new entries pretty much the same way you did with your original installation.
