    Regarding Intimate Shared Memory

    Hello Everybody,

I hope if somebody can provide some inputs for the following .

I have someone running six instances of Oracle on one Sparc Solaris system. Five of them are using Intimate Shared Memory, but for some reason, one of them is not. The one that is not using Intimate Shared Memory tends to have performance problems that the others don’t share. That makes some sense if the system is paging the standard shared memory used by that instance. The question is, what causes that difference? Why would this one instance not be using Intimate Shared Memory? Is there a maximum amount for the system that can be designated as Intimate Shared Memory, and that amount is being reached?

    Thanks

How did you find you that 1 instance does not use ISM?
One, who thinks that the other one who thinks that know and does not know, does not know either!
