Upgrade Oracle 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4 in RHEL 4
Hello all,
I've a machine with Oracle 10.2.0.1 on RHEL 4. I want to upgrade it straight to 10.2.0.4. I've this patchset provided by our IT, p6810189_10204_Linux-x86-64.zip. I couldn't unzip it. I doubt if it is the correct patch set. Does cksum make a difference here, because the downloaded patchset have different cksum from my current version. I am confused here. Could anybody sugget the patchset to do so? or is it not possible?
Thanking you all in advance,

64 or 32 bit CPU?
For 32 bit use: p6810189_10204_Linux-x86.zip

It's 64 bit CPU.
Thanks,

What errors do you get when you try to unzip it?

Now I am 100% sure that the previous zip was corrupt. This one I just downloaded, I could successfully unzip. Now I am in the process of runnin this patch. Will let you know/seek for your advises again, if i get into any trouble. . I am sorry, LKBrwn_DBA; I am not able to post the errors now, as I've already deleted the corrupt zip. Thanks for your advices.

I got stuck here. What shall I feed here when it asks for oraInventory and Oracle home directory after the Welcome screen, provide the same location it is currently using or provide a new location for the patch?
Current settings:
Oracle Home : /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1
Central Inventory : /u01/app/oracle/oraInventory
from : /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/oraInst.loc
OPatch version : 10.2.0.1.0
OUI version : 10.2.0.1.0
OUI location : /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/oui
Log file location : /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/cfgtoollogs/opatch/opatch-2008_Aug_19_17-07-16-NPT_Tue.log
It is mandatory for me to create oracle home inside u01.
Thanks,
gtcol
