Severe error + stack dump when starting db console

During a re-create of my EM repository, I am observing the following error message and subsequent stack trace :

SEVERE: Error starting Database Control

Process exited abnormally during initialization.


I have attempted dropping and re-recreating my repository twice now, but same result each time ...
