    Automatic statistics

    Hi. I understand that in Oracle 10g table statistics are generated automatically when statistics_level parameter is set to 'TYPICAL' ? Does this mean that compute statistics is not necessary anymore ?
    Can someone please clarify this as metalink is not very clear on thsi issue. Thanks a milllion.

    You do not need to collect statistics manually. In 10g it is automated. The statistics_level = 'TYPICAL' is enough.
