    Creating Oracle directory

    Dear All,

Can any one please explain the steps to create an oracle directory on a remote system (other than database server).

I want to read a file in the app server using external tables. So I thought of creating an oracle directory in the app server and copying the file into that location.

Is that possible ? If not, is there any other better methods for the same.

I'm using 10g in windows server.

    regards

May be I'm over simplifying this one but since you are running on Windows... how about just permanently mapping the remote drive lets say as drive Z: and then just create your Oracle Directory in there?
