ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel while using /PAE switch for VLM
Hi
I am trying to make my oracle database use more than 4GB of RAM.
I am using the following on a 32 bit machine with 8CPU's and 8GB RAM
Windows 2003 datacenter edition OS
Oracle 10gR2 database
I have changed the following things
1) Included the in boot.ini file with this /PAE
2) Added the registry parameter AWE_WINDOW_MEMORY with 1GB in bytes
3) the init.ora is as follows
------------------------------------------------------
USE_INDIRECT_DATA_BUFFERS=TRUE

I got the following error when I startup the database
----------------------------------------------------

ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
SQL>
----------------------------------------------------------
I have tried with different pga_aggregate_target sizes but couldn't startup the database.
Any Idea/clue will be helpful.
NOTE : For me this is necessary because at any point of time 2000 users will be trying to connect to the single instance of this database, and few users are unable to connect.
Thanks in advance.

May I ask why do you think ORA-03113 is related to PGA size?

There was a communication error that requires further investigation. First, check for network problems and review the SQL*Net setup. Also, look in the alert.log file for any errors. Finally, test to see whether the server process is dead and whether a trace file was generated at failure time.
