    10g standby Creation on standard edition

    Dear All,

    I have to prepare a standby database on oracle 10g 10.2.0.1.0 on another server. can you please help.
    can we make it all with command line? i already configured one on oracle 8i.

    please advise,

    Hi

    Yes search the oracle documentation it has the steps to create the standby manually.

    Thanks for your reply, i will check it.
    just i need to mention that i'm new in 10g, and i don't want any other software like dataguard... just to be similar to the one of 8i.

    Hi

    Dataguard simplifies commands when you want to do switchover and failovers if you dont want it you are free not to use it.

    sorry fir asking again, but i have never used Dataguard.
    if i have to use it, i have to buy it, right! it is not a free software

    oracle isnt free, you want to use it you must buy it

    Well you changed my whole prespective of this qustion.
    Standby in 8i or 9i or in 7.3 is not free either i hope you understand this.
