    RMAN backup strategies

    Hi all,

Just wanted to know what are the best practices for RMAN backup.
We do regular rman backup of database(300G).
allocating channels, backing up of controlfile, datafile, archivelogs.

Does sizing of backup pieces make any change for backup or recovery?

What are other configurable parameters that can affect rman backup?

How does incremental backup strategy work?

How can one recover in the event of crash?

How good are incremental backup's in real time when concerned to huge databases?

Can any one give some recovery scenarios using incremental backup's?

Thanks all of you for spending your precious time.

What's wrong with RMAN documentation? all your questions are largely answered there.

"How can one recover in the event of crash?"
Should that be funny or sad?
What's the point of making backups when you cannot recover?
