    Are any special considerations needed for setting up index tablespaces or can they be defined like standard tablespaces?

    sure index tablespace are normal tablespaces just that they are used to store index segments, due to perfomance issues you should createindex tablespace and data tablespace in seperate disks so improving I/O.
