Memory
Hello
We added couple of Gb more memory to the server.how can i take advantage of that .in other way what parameters should i be incrementing/research to take advantage of the addtional memory added ?
or how do i tell oracle to use the additional memory where i can improve performance.it's 9i /unix environment
thank you

why did you add memory, what analysis did you do to show you needed more becuase if you had done that then it is obvious where it should be used?
-
we are hitting the memory utilized to max during peak times.it's still behaving the same.I wonder do i need to tell oracle we have more memory etc, if so how do i do that
Thanks

so you should know which bit is being exhausted then, what is it, share dpool, buffer cache, pga - which ones are you seeing max utilisation on
-
sharedpool and buffer cache
-
Well then,
shared_pool_size
db_cache_size
Since you are senior member, I am a bit surprised by this question
-
im curious, how do you know you were filling them up - are you sure you just havent bought memory for the sake of it.
You know adding more can make things worse?
-
first of all, what was the memory configuration and the init parameters set (those relevent to memory)?
funky...
