Questions about using DBCA to crate a new 10.2..0.3 db.
I have one question about the procedure to use DBCA to create a new database 10.2.0.3
1. install the 10.2.0.1
2. 2. Patch to 10.2.0.3
3. 3. Use DBCA to generate the scripts to create a new database
4. run the generated script to create a new db
Do I still need to run the catupgrd.sql as manually upgrading one existing database to 10.2.0.3?
Thanks,
Lily

I didn’t do the catupgrd.sql
From the dba_registry
All the components including
Oracle Database Catalog Views and Oracle Database Packages and Types are 10.2..0.3.
Why did I ask this question?
Because one of our co-worked was told by one Oracle Support that using DBCA to create a new database, the Oracle uses the rmanrestore to restore a seed db to create the database.
If without running the caqtupgrd.sql, the system vies will be still in 10.2.0.1.
But from the dba_registr, they show all is on 10.2.0.3 .
So I am asking this question.

only need to upgrade if you use the templates - create a new one from scratch and you are fine

Thanks for the reply. This is what I thought.
But the Oracle Support insisted that DBCA is using a seed database to
create a new database so that need to run the catupgrd.sql to
put all the system views to 10.2.0.3. Otherwise they are still 10.2.0.1
From my dba_registry, all the componts are on 10.2.0.3.

not if you are only creating scripts from it, only if you use the templates
