    I am pretty new to oracle. what does quering the registry mean ? does it mean I need to take some extra steps backing out ?

    what registry?, server, database? inventory? which one

    I am not sure. 'reydb' brought this up in the message above. Do I need to take care of any registries at all while backing out ?

    No, you don't. Just get rid of your corrupt installation and get a fresh one.

    Please, take into consideration that technically you are not doing a backout, you are doing it from scratch.

    registry as dba_registry to check component_versions
