ORA-01115: IO error reading block from file string (block # string)
Cause: Device on which the file resides is probably offline
Action: Restore access to the device

    hi rohit,
use dbverify to find out all the corrupted blocks if any in that datafile
and then perform block media recovery using rman.

That's what I would call a very dangerous generalization.
You might want to check documentation for "Detailed Recovery Steps" http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/c...26/recover.htm (also valid for Ora9i)
