    timing activities

    hi everybody,
    i would like to know time estimation for daily dba activities as wellas
    1)migration of database(75gb) from 9i to 10g
    2)whole database backup
    3)starting of database
    4)modifying any parameters
    and everything..

    why dont you try all those things and find out instead of being super lazy

    Well, depends on millions of factors.
    Last time we patched ASM+CRS+RAC from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3 for around 8 hours, including backups of the software, databases and some reorganizations
    That's what happened with us, what will happen with you... god knows :-)

    Hi

    i am a weak hearted DBA and when it comes to patching etc i first play on a identical test bed no matter how simple the patching is and then get a sign off from the application owner and i document all the steps and only then i (after popping up my heart pills) i touch the production Database but thats me and if you are young and want to drive down the fast lane you could save some time by being heroic and directly trying to patch the production box and hoping that the oracle readme actually works the way it is documented...
