Recover Database without RBS segments and Temporary Segments, Is It possible ?

    Dear All,

We have dataware house system which is over 100G in size, due to the size we are planning NOT to backup RBS segments and Temporary tablespaces.

At the moment, we are taking complete file backup.

My question is, in case we had to restore from tapes,

Could re-build the database without RBS and TEMP segments ?

I have studied that, we could drop rollback segments including contents and re-create them ?

    Please advice.

    Thanks

    V.

you HAVE to back up RBS segments (well the tablespace they are in). You wont be able to recover the database without them, no need to backup TEMP

We have a rollback segment called RBS_BIG01 with 4 datafiles (12g). mostly it is offline, can we avoid backing-up this one ?

    Thanks

if you want to save space use RMAN and if you are in 10g use RMAN Compression, it reduces to around 15%
