    Oracle is not releasing the UNDO space even after shutdown and start

    Hi All,

    I am getting this error ORA-30036: unable to extend segment by 8 in undo tablespace 'UNDOTBS'

    We tried this to shutdown and restart.

    Oracle is not releasing the UNDO space even after shutdown and start

    Can you pelase help.

    perhaps you need to extend your undo tablespace to account for the room your app needs

    What is your db version. If its 9i what is your undo_retention setting? you can try decresing the undo_retention and then use the oradebug wakeup
    When in doubt ...go to the basics!!

    -> What is your undo tablespace size ?
    -> What is your undo_retention setting ?

    Debug the SQL that is causing the error to occur.
