recovery question
Hey dear friens
this question was asked to my frien in some of his interview in turn he asked me.
The Ques is
Hot backup of database is taken.
At 4pm export was taken.
Database crashed at 6pm
A table was created at 5pm and data was inserted in it.
A Jr. dba took import at 6.30pm
the question is whether the table created at 5pm could be recovered??
-
you recover using archived logs not export import
-
oooh dear
Thanks for replying
Dear the question is after taking the import, whether it is possible to recover that table ??
Its a question asked its not we are implementing.
what happen exactly after taking import, its about SCN
think on it!!!!!!!!!
this is bit tricky
I 'll tell u my answer but I dont am I right or wrong..? but u put your brains down
hope to hear from you soon!!
-
to start with, why you are mixing logical backups and physical backups?
do you think with import you can recover to a specific scn?
the question is not tricky, the question hasnt got any meaning at all
thanks

You can do a tablespace point-in-time recovery to get the table as it existed at 5pm, or anytime up to the crash.
You'll need to determine for yourself how to merge the data contained in the import and the table.
The import/export is irrelevant to the recovery process and should not have been used -- it just makes more of a mess.
