    Flash Recovery Area Problem

    Dear All,

I am facing problem in flash recovery area.

The version and patch release of the Oracle database server is
    Oracle 10g 10.2.0.1.0

The version and patch of the operating system is
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 2) 2.6.9 22.ELsmp (32-bit)

The database is in archive mode.
    Flashback database feature is enabled.

    I have set db_recovery_file_dest_size=20G

em shows that 18 GB of flash recovery area is used by Archive log ,while upon checking physically the size of archive log folder is only 3 GB which is not understandable.

Can somebody help me to solve this problem?

    mia

have you deleted files just by using the OS instead of the database?
