can anyone tell me how can operating system authentication be enabled in oracle 8i??

theres nothing wrong with it but im little confused about something. i read in the doc that if operating system authentication is being used then a user does not need to enter his/her password when logging in to the database. is that true

Not need to enter the password because of Oracle doesn't even know the user's password; that's why we call it operating system authentication

set REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORD_FILE Equal NONE
Im in doubt this parameter work in oracle 8i??
