can one avoid major dba mistakes !

Hi

I know most dba's out there will make major mistakes like droping objects on production systems etc during their dba life

how can one avoid such mistakes ? any tips ?

1. Apply a sensible amount of caution to your work by re-reading commands before you execute them.
2. Run commands on a test environment first if you're not sure.
3. Always ensure you have a rock solid backup\recovery policy that covers all eventualities. Test your backup\recovery policy as often as you feel it takes to keep it fresh.
