Thread: Data Center Moving

    Hello,

    Is there anybody who participated in moving data center?
    We are planning on moving the data center.
    24by 7 business, and lots of things are involved (www server, hardwares, video server...)
    I 've done anything like this, so I would like to get some information from people who already experienced this type of projects. My resposiblity is limited on the database part, but I would like to know and prepare as much as I can.
    Please share the experience with me.

    I've been through a datacenter move before, but we were down when the move took place. Usually in a datacenter move, the biggest problem comes in with the networking; the server is plugged into a 10Mbps port, you are on the wrong sub-net, etc.

    In the database side, did you use to export/import?
    How did you make sure the moved database is syncronized with the original one?

    No, we shutdown the database and copied the files to the new machine and started it up.
