sqlldr Carriage Returns
Hi all,
Quick question, I have a large text file (1.6Gb) and am trying to load it into Oracle 9i using sqlldr. Unfortunately one of the columns contains carriage returns as part of the value for that field, and as a result sqlldr treats these as new records. Is there any way for sqlldr to deal with this, or do i need to write a parser to strip these values out?
Cheers
Dan

I think there is a case in the utilities manual that shows how to do this...

Check Oracle8i Utilites Guide, chapter 1 under "Stream Record Format"

Hi dear, that was my nightmare before too ....but thanks to all of u here...it was solved using the HS connectivity. You know I am converting
our old databases to Oracle. And it comprises of Access,Foxpro,MsSql. Using
sqlldr is so tideous especially if u hit this carriage return keys found in long
remaks columns box (mulitlined). I suggest u use Heterogeneous Connectivity, and u will live happily ever after
