Oracle10g R2 + ASM + SGeRAC

Hai,
We want to Install Oracle 10g R2 RAC using ASM on HP-UX PA RISC(64bit) servers. I have gone through many documents but got confused about SGeRAC (ServiceGuard Extension for RAC).

Also, HP says that it supports ASM with SGeRAC from Version A.11.17 and with HP-UX 11i V2 and Update2.

Where as Oracle says you don't require SGeRAC and LVMs using SLVM etc. as ASM provides LVM features itself.

I would like to know whether we can use SGeRAC and SLVM with ASM or not?

Hai,
What I understood is that Oracle10g RAC with HP-UX11i V1 and Service Guard A.11.16 does not support LVM/SLVM for using with ASM. Only, HP-UX 11i V2 update2, Service Guard A.11.17 supports LVM/SLVM with ASM.
Also, Service Guard A.11.17 is required for 10g R2 RAC with ASM if we want to use SLVM. If we dont use LVM/SLVM we donot require SGeRAC.

1) Can Oracle 10g R2 RAC without Service Guard provide
hardware failure like LAN or SAN(Multipath)?

2) Which is a better solution:
a) Oracle 10g RAC with SGeRAC, using LVM/SLVM

b) Oracle 10g RAC without LVM or using RAW devices
