    Re-balancing connections after node outage

    People,

I was asked to come up with some procedures to rebalance connection pools
after a node in the Oracle RAC is restarted after an outage. I just bloged
    my findings:

    http://dev2dev.bea.com/blog/hoos/arc...ring_from.html

These are all based on what our SOC operations can do using the WLS console.
I want to know if there is anything that can be done on the database side that can help with these procedures or if other better oprtions exist.

    Please advise.

    Cheers,
    Hoos

I am not a big expert here, but search for "Transparent Application Failover" (abreviated TAF)
    Good luck

I should have explained we are using the Oracle 10g thin driver. I believe TAF is only available on the thick driver, is this correct?

As I said, I am not a big expert here, but I think there is some mechanism where the pmon updates statistics of which instance - it's load, the number of sessions etc. and one can become a subscriber of these statistics and hence achieve load balancing.

Thanks, I'll have a look at pmon.
