    Dataguard Archived Logs retention policy

    Hi all,

Just wanted to ask a question on Dataguard. We have a scenario where we have a Dataguard setup on 2 Windows 2003 Boxes and have had issues with the logs not being shipped across. We traced this down with to the logs filling up disk space. Now this db is about 500gb and we created the standby using RMAN. We havent taken backups with RMAN after the initial creation of the standby due to space issues. Can we use RMAN retention policy (or anything similar) to delete archived redo logs from disk after they have been applied to the standby db from the the primary and standby site?

    Thanks in advance,
    Chucks

Want to delete logs from both sites - on standby after the logs have been applied. We are running on maximum performance mode (the default) and its a physical standby rather than a logical one.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi
You can use RMAN to backup your primary archive logs and delete input. Also , you can schedule a cron job to check the max logseq on standby and delete the logs that are applied.RMAN is very powerful ....
