Listener password fails

Password protected listener fails to open. Is there a way to remove the password and make the listener work?

I tried removing the password line from the listener file and still fails to respond.

I could get the password from the ex manager and successfully changed.

What if the password is lost!! can't we get to the listener?

Paste the encrypted version of the password into lsnrctl set password command and away you go. I thought that this was common knowledge, but if it isn't then I probably shouldn't be posting it on an open forum. Moderator, please remove this if you feel it compromises anyones security in any way.
