Error moving tablespace to networked drive

    Hi all,

I am getting this error when moving a tablespace to a mapped network drive:

    SQL> alter tablespace users online;
    alter tablespace users online
    *
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01114: IO error writing block to file 4 (block # 1)
    ORA-01110: data file 4: '\\PER-SLH-WORK14\WSH TESTS\USERS01.DBF'
    ORA-27091: unable to queue I/O
    ORA-27041: unable to open file
    OSD-04002: unable to open file
O/S-Error: (OS 5) Access is denied.

This happens, as can be seen above, when i bring the tablespace online. The renaming of the datafile from the old location to the new location worked fine.
This drive has all the permissions set for me to be able to create a tablespace and and insert rows into. Why do i get the above error when moving a current tablespace to the folder?

    Any suggestions will be helpful.

    Thanks,
    Chucks

    Hi,

I think it is. Atlough not advised. We need to do this as there is a lack of storage space and no money to buy new disks!

    Hi Tamil

I have successfully created the tablespace on a mapped WindowXP folder using the UNC naming format. That working am just having a problem moving this tablespace.
