    free up tablespace

    Hi,

    I initially allocated 1000Mb space on my table EMP in USERS tablespace,
    when I loaded the actual data it consumed only 800Mb.
    How do I release the 200Mb unused space?

    Thanks

    Well, if you gave allocated the space to the EMP table ( i.e EMP have extents of 1000Mb but only 800 of them are used, and no more HAVE EVER been used, then
    alter table emp deallocate unused;
    should return the free space back to the tablespace.
    Further, if you want to resize the file, I believe the command should be something like
    aler database datafile '....' size 800M

    Good luck
