    Extend Tablespace on raw devices

    Hi People,

    Can someone answer the following
Suppose I have a tablespace on raw device and it gets full. If we assume that I can extend the raw device at OS level, can I extend the tablespace as well?

    Thanks
    Boris

I don't think that you can grow a raw partition, although I'm not sure, but you could always create a new raw device and add a datafile for that device. If you have a test system try both ways.

    Yes,
If your raw device will allow you to extend the device then simply grow the datafile.

I know that HPUX/ veritas and several others will allow this.

you can if you manage your RAW volumes with Volume Manager, i.e each RAW Device is a Logical Volume
