can not find trace files in bdump
Hello,
my second maybe beginners question today:
The alert.log shows me file names they do not exist in bdump dest:
Sat Nov 4 11:01:38 2006
Errors in file /opt/oracle/admin/tcomm/bdump/tcomm4_j000_17709.trc:
ORA-12012: error on auto execute of job 26
ORA-00060: deadlock detected while waiting for resource
...
SQL> show parameters background
NAME TYPE VALUE
------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------
background_core_dump string partial
background_dump_dest string /opt/oracle/admin/tcomm/bdump
What could be the reason?
Thank you,
Christian

maybe someone deleted them

Hi Christian,
The file should be there. The alert log clearly states
Errors in file /opt/oracle/admin/tcomm/bdump/tcomm4_j000_17709.trc
Maybe it worths to make
vi /opt/oracle/admin/tcomm/bdump/tcomm4_j000_17709.trc

Hi Bore,
so I can be sure when there is an alert.log entry like the one I posted, than this file was definitely written! Right?
It is not there! So some one or some job has deleted the file.
Is there a way to check who did this on solaris?

Well, normally yes, since the alert.log states so, the trace file shoudl be written.
About the rest... I'v no idea, I'm not so good on Solaris
Good luck
