Minimum requirements for 10g install

Hi all,

Reading through Oracle documentation for installing 10g i read the minimum spec required was:

Physical memory (RAM)
256 MB minimum; 512 MB recommended
Virtual memory
Double the amount of RAM
Disk space
Basic Installation Type total: 2.04 GB
Advanced Installation Types total: 1.94 GB
Video adapter
256 colors
Processor
550 MHz minimum

For the physical memory, is it 512MB per instance or as a whole? Reading through other threads i was inclined to think it is per instance?

the docs are assumiing that you have one instance per machine

Speaking from experience, running with the suggested minimum spec will work OK but will cause your server to crawl - try to go for as high a spec as you can
(or at least a spec that is higher than the minimum)
