    Moving to DNS !

    Hi,

    We have a DNS compliance initiative and would like to know:

    What needs to be done to be compliant ?

    1. Replace all IP addresses from the tnsnames.ora files on dev/uat/prod db's with the DNS name.

    2. Does this have to be done on the listeners too ?

    Right now connections are via tnsnames.ora - some are local on the boxes and clients have local versions as well as centrally managed via the ifile parameter.

    Anyone gone through this exercise recently ?

    makes no odds, just make sure everything references the dns name if you have to

    that ifile stuff makes no sense though, ifiles are for parameter fils

    Tx daveyuk - what I meant was that some client tnsnames point to a common one on the network identified by the ifile parameter.

    Anyways so both the tnsnames and listeners have to be changed ?
