Out of Memory Error on Linux Server

    Hi,

    I have a Server:

O.S: Linux RHEL AS 3.0 Update 5 Taroon
    RAM: 16 GB
    SGA: 2.8 GB
    Oracle: 9.2.0.1.0

My Server gives me Out of Process Memory Error at times.

I am using Normal Kernel for Booting and not Huge Mem Kernel.

Please advise, if booting from HugeMem Kernel may solve the Problem?

    Hi,

Does it require, the Server to be booted with Huge Mem Kernel prior to oracle software installation
    OR
is it Ok, if i do boot the Server now after oracle software installation, the latter i have tried and failed to resolve the problem.

    Hi,

When i successfully booted from Huge Mem Kernel and tried starting my database:

    It gave me an error:

Unable to attach shared memory segment.

We tried to lower the SGA_max_size and tried again, but with same error.

    Please advise
