Private_strands 7 at log switch
Hi all,
I have seen this message in the alert log everytime there is a log switch:
Private_strands 7 at log switch
What does it exactly mean? I have a feeling my redo log sizes are too small: 10 MB each. The log buffer is 200KB. And looks as if logs are archived every minute. Is the above a serious error?
Thanks in advance,
Chucksk

no its not, but switching every minute isnt good - increase your rede log size

Thanks Davie,
Yes i thought as much about increasing the redo log file sizes. Just out of curiosity what does:
Private_strands 7 at log switch
actually mean?
Thanks again,
Chucksk

wow! I went to google & typed in "Private_strands 7 at log switch" & it came up with 26 hits, some of which were in Chinese so they could be ignored, which left about 6 hits; it didn't take much time to find that this was probably the most useful of them:

You should try using Google! It's incredible what information you can find!

Ah, Metalink! So you would have searched for, & found, this post that explains about private_strands (albeit not in much detail, but it definitely explains about them):
