    Version 9.0.1.1.1

    Hello friends..my 1st post..and a newbie with oracle adn SQL.....
    I wa going thru SQL tutorials....

    WHile trying some of the queries....i came to know that it has three tables....EMP, SALGRADE, DEPT, BONUS...
    EMP has 14 rows with smith allen and ward etc....
    I am reading tut with example..emp table but with entries as
    king, kochhar, etc....i know these tables r in next version of SQL..correct me if i am wrong...
    Can anybody guide me where can i get the tables/ script to this tables.....so i can easily practise and verify my answers......

    Are you are asking for the tables in scott schema?then

    ORACLE_HOME>rdbms>admin>scott.sql

    NO ...i want the script or table which will have the example as i have in my tuts...like the version i have, has just 4 dept ...but the tuts i am referring has 8 dept...i mean the latest version table

    Ypou might do well to get a more recent version of Oracle -- if the sample data is different then you're working on a different version to that which the tutorial writers were expecting anyway.

    If it's SQL practice you want the grab a copy of Oracle Express Edition -- easy install and administration.

    Did u mean enterprise edition......???

    Thats the point..i do not wanna get the other edition..but get the script which willl just be enough to help me practise with tut i have

    The problem you're facing is that Oracle updated the data but not the tutorials.

    As slimdave suggested, download ORACLE EXPRESS EDITION - this is not the same as Enterprise Edition. You can download it from here:

    I am having oracle 9i..will 10g work with it..or its complete new installation o 10g required??? i am also reffering to 9i tuts only..so help me out...

    You can install both. You might like to get the Oracle VMWare appliance.
