    Help, please.

    I had to restore 3 datafiles from a backup of 2 nights ago. These files were full, and are mostly only written to, not updated, deleted etc. I was short on disk space, so I took the files offline, but this didn't free up the disk space, so I shut down the database (this freed up the disk space.) I then restored the three files from the backup, and applied the archived redologs, and opened the database. Now, the three recovered .dbfs still say in the status of v$datafile "RECOVER"

    Why should I need to do this. please help if you can, it's a production DB

    cheers

    chris.

    Put the datafile offline and get rid of them at OS level and do a fresh restore. When you recover the database, mention to which thread you want to recover to.

    I mean
    RECOVER DATABASE UNTIL arc.5465;

    Hope this helps.
