    ORA-00214: controlfile inconsistant

    hello Dear oracle masters

    The story is below plz tell me solution i am very new to oracle
    i dont have any cold backup of data,log or controle files.

    after electric failure when i tried to startup my db it return following error

    Plz give my simple solution

    SVRMGR> startup
    ORACLE instance started.
    Total System Global Area 83605532 bytes
    Fixed Size 75804 bytes
    Variable Size 57016320 bytes
    Database Buffers 26435584 bytes
    Redo Buffers 77824 bytes
    ORA-00214: controlfile 'D:\ORACLE\ORADATA\DATA\CONTROL01.CTL' version 11541 inco
    nsistent with file 'D:\ORACLE\ORADATA\DATA\CONTROL03.CTL' version 11538

    ohhh boy, then start doing a cold backup now at least u will have
    a fallback if u encounter more error afterwards.
    I guess the system was writing on the first control file when the
    power failed, so it was not able to sync in to the other control files.
    You may try to startup mount and recover database.
    But wait for davey and the other gurus they might have a better
    solution but as far as my knowlegde is concerned, i guess this
    will also what they will tell you

    hi,
    you have a slim chance of recovering your db since you don't have a backup.

    Try to backup it up now b4 anything else, in case you commit mistake during recovery you got something to draw back.

    Move one of the controlfile out, then try to copy one of the control file to the other and restart your db with mount option. If it does not work, copy the controlfile you have moved out to the 2 controlfiles. And restart the db again with mount option.

    Notice the naming convention like control01, control02…
