    Trying to find out what this error means and whether it is severe ?

    # svrmgrl

    SVRMGR> connect sys/oracle as sysdba

    Check weahter you have set the environment variables properly

    Env variables have been set correctly :

    ORACLE_BASE=/local/opt/oracle
    ORACLE_HOME=/local/opt/oracle/product/8.1.6
    ORACLE_SID=wise
    ORACLE_TERM=xterm
    SHLIB_PATH=/local/opt/oracle/product/8.1.6/lib:/usr/lib
