    could not open parameter file

    hi,
    i am trying to create a database, i place my parameter file in admin\pfile, but when i am trying to open db in nomount its show error mess that the parameter file could not find in oracle\oradata\database.

    hmmm how about putting the pfile in the correct place then?

    the correct place is where it is asking for it

    Good, you have placed the pfile in its place and start the db using this file.

    If you need some init parameters to be added, add and then start the db.

    what do u mean by correct place is that \database dir or \admin\pfile..and i created the pfile using the other database init.ora file changing the files names n dir's

    Correct place means "where is oracle looking for a init.ora by default"!!
