    'bad command' error when trying to log into sqlplus

    I just recently installed Linux and then installed Oracle 9i. The installation was successful but I am not able to log into sqlplus.
    I get 'bad command' error. I am new to this ... can someone help me out..

    Your environment needs to be set up. $ORACLE_HOME, $ORACLE_SID, and $ORACLE_HOME/bin needs to be in the path.

    Thanks gandolf989,
    I checked that and now everything is working fine.
    I have another problem...when I try to launch oem or netca. I get this error message. My friend also faces the same problem... Can you help me out on this too..

    I try to start it by giving 'oemapp console'


    error:
    /oracle/jre/1.1.8/bin/../bin/i686/native_threads/jre: relocation error:

    /oracle/jre/1.1.8/bin/../lib/i686/native_threads/libjava.so: symbol __libc_wait, version

    GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference

    you have the wrong verion of glibc
