    unable to install oracle 9i on windows 2000 profetional

    Hi all,

    can you resolve this problem .

    let me explain what i have done

    1) i have installed oracle 9i success fully but when creating the database it asks us to change the passwords for more security
    then i have changes each and every users passwrord to "siva"
    and i have activated all the user also.

    2) then i unistalled 9i , and tried to install it again it gave the error messages while creating the data base are
    ora-12638: credential retrival failed
    ora-01017: invalied username/password; logon denied.
    ora-24314: service handle not intialized

    3)then i have formatted my entire system and tried to install but the allplication is giving the same error message

    can you please letme know what is the solution
    except buying new pc or software.....:-)

    Under which user you are installing the Oracle? Is that user in DBA group?

    Are you saying you reinstalled Windows too to try and resolve this problem?

    You must be a member of the Windows Administrator group in order to install Oracle and create a database.
